there started a very interesting discussion on geostrategic and economic issues regarding the actual situation in Pakistan and an outlook in the future in this forum. Thanks to the experts in the forum and in the chats we gained a lot of inside views during these two days. With this final topic our conference is coming to its end. Dear all,

Three different conflicts with very different characters were analysed and possible solutions discussed. Thank you so much for a very fair exchange of opinions regarding this highly controversial matter.

We all realised that there is no simple solution to any of the three conflicts. Each proposal had its pros and cons, but I have the impression that the discussion opened the eyes of the participants for the complexity of this issue. Almost 100 contributions and almost 300 view proved the relevance of this topic. You can still read the contributions in the forum. If you missed our videochat on the world's media, you can watch it.

Today we turn to our last conference topic, focussing on the economic and geostrategic impact of the country. For the introduction, again, I ask you to read the selected material and watch the videos. You have the oppotunity to discuss this issues with our experts in the forum.

it is very interesting to watch the ongoing discussions in the forum regarding the conflicts. Reading the posts it becomes obvious that there will be not easy solutions for the conflicts in Pakistan, because every proposal is opposed by others for good reasons.

Still today we have time to exchange views on this topics in the forum before we head from tomorrow on to our last conference theme.

In addition we plan a disgression from the central conference theme today by offering a videochat regarding the image of Pakistan in the world's media. We touched almost all aspects of political life in Pakistan in this forum like the structure of the state and its institutions, the demand for an independant justice, the civil society, the independent media, the impact of international influence in Pakistan, human rights, sacularism and religion in politics, the role of the Taliban and last but not least the education and the economic develoment as important factors to help citizens to support a democratic system. You offered many different views discussing the different topics from the inside of Pakistan as well as from the international perspective. It was a pleasure to watch the discussion.

Dear participants,
it is a real pleasure to watch the great interest, which our conference experienced already during the first two days. In the forum on the history of Pakistan we counted 104 contributions and 466 views. I wished that you would keep this vital participation all through the conference. Many aspects of our topic have been touched and internationally discussed in our forum. You raised the question why Pakistan ever came into being, which structures it had and which ethnical-religious problems exist since the founding of Pakistan. During the discussion religion kept to be in the focus, if it was misused to stabilize nondemocratic power structures, if it should have more or less impact on the state and how to deal with religious extremism. Our forum on history is now closed for new contributions, but you can still read in it. Also the videochat yesterday was very interesting, although we struggled a little with the technic. It was almost impossible for Olaf Kellerhoff to answer the amount of questions in one hour. Some already touched topics will probably come up again in the next discussions. From today on until November 14^th we will concentrate on the most recent political development of Pakistan. Besides reading material we offer videostatements given by Anees Jillani from the Liberal Forum Pakistan and by Christian Wagner (SWP).
